Chamakh keen on Bordeaux return

Frustrated Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh has confirmed he is interested in rejoining Bordeaux at the end of the season.

With the Gunners playing only one man up front and Robin van Persie in sensational form, Chamakh has been restricted to just six appearances in the Premier League so far this season, five of them from the bench.

The Moroccan feels he would be best served by a move away from the Emirates.

“I’m 27. I need to play. I cannot stay like this forever,” he told TF1’s Telefoot.

When asked if he would consider a move back to France, the striker said his heart was set on only one club.

“It would be Bordeaux,” he said. “I am committed to this club.”

In spite of his current frustration at being consigned to the role of a reserve, Chamakh insisted he will not push for a move during next month’s transfer window.

“I will not leave in January,” he said. “(I will make the) important decision in June.”

Chamakh joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Bordeaux in May 2010, but despite making a positive start to life in north London his form dipped during the second half of last season.
