Chelsea could send Marc Guiu back out on loan in the January transfer window, according to TBR.
Guiu was sent out on loan to Sunderland in the summer of 2025 and was expected to stay at the Black Cats for the 2025-26 season, but following the injury suffered by Liam delap, Chelsea recalled the 19-year-old Spain Under-19 international striker.
Journalist Graeme Bailey told TBR: “Guiu is obviously third choice, and they do like him, they rate him.
“How much football he’s going to see is debatable, though. It depends on the circumstances.
“They were happy before Delap’s injury, and obviously that’s just really bad luck, but that’s football. In terms of the striker position, they are happy.
“They love Pedro and what he’s done. It’s just one of those things: when one of your big players gets injured, like Delap, you need someone to step in. They think Guiu is there to help.
“They’ve also got options up there, like Estavao, who can play in false positions.
“It’s not ideal, and they accept that. But they’ll reassess in January. By then, Delap should be back and fit again.”
