Barcelona cruised into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey on Thursday with a 9-0 rout of Hospitalet at Camp Nou.
Thursday’s win gave the Catalans a resounding 10-0 aggregate triumph over the Segunda B outfit, with Thiago, winger Isaac Cuenca and Cristian Tello each scoring braces in the thumping win.
Pedro opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute, and Andres Iniesta scored eight minutes later to have the Spanish and European champions well on their way to victory.
Thiago grabbed the first of his two goals 23 minutes in, and strikes late in the first half from Xavi and Tello saw the home side out to a 5-0 lead at the break.
Cuenca scored his first four minutes into the second half and Thiago’s penalty after 55 minutes made it 7-0.
Tello scored his second at the 65-minute mark and Cuenca’s second goal, nine minutes from the end, capped off a memorable night for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Elsewhere on Thursday, Valencia had few problems booking their place in the round of 16 with a 4-0 victory over Segunda B club Cadiz at Mestalla.
The win meant Unai Emery’s side went through with an aggregate scoreline of 4-0, having been held to a stalemate in a frustrating first leg.
Goals from Victor Ruiz, Jonas, Roberto Soldado and Ever Banega allowed the home side to clinch a comfortable victory.
