Napoli are the latest club to be linked with Botafogo left-back Bruno Cortes and are weighing up a January move for him.

The 24-year-old has received rave reviews in his homeland for excellent performances for the Rio de Janiero outfit, and the defender’s agent Jorge Moraes told Goal.com last month that a raft of European clubs were chasing his client.

The full-back made his international debut for Brazil against Argentina in a 2-0 win back in September, and looks destined for a move after a ninth-place finish in the Brazilian Serie A for Botafogo.

Paris Saint-Germain have previously been linked with Cortes, and Moraes indicated that teams in England and Italy were also monitoring his situation.

Brazilian news source Globoesporte states that Napoli have already had a bid for the star rejected, as Botafogo felt the offer was less than what Cortes was worth.

The San Paolo side are believed to be in negotiations with the player’s representative Eduardo Urame, and may be preparing an improved offer for him.

Botafogo are also believed to be in the process of sourcing new full-backs, as they are resigned to losing their international defender.
