Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish believes believes a failure to convert chances into goals is his side’s only weakness.
The Reds lie sixth on the English Premier League table, and the Scottish boss believes that results such as December 5’s 1-0 loss to Fulham do not tell the whole story.
“I think the only stat that isn’t in our favor is probably in the goals-for column,” Dalglish told the club’s official website, ahead of Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa.
“We’ve got fewer points than the performances deserve. We’ve got that in our own hands and we’ll just continue to do what we’ve done and sooner or later we’ll turn our chances into goals.”
Dalglish also believes his team has had the misfortune of meeting several goalkeepers in top form.
“We’ve not come up against a goalkeeper who hasn’t been outstanding against us,” he said.
“I think 16 times against the woodwork makes a contribution as well. At the same time, the responsibility is on us to create chances and then finish them off. We’ll probably win a game scoring every chance that we make.”
