Saturday, December 13th
BST 12:30 Norwich City vs Southampton
While Southampton might have endured a woeful start to the 2025/26 campaign, the Saints have certainly turned a real corner following Tonda Eckert’s arrival at St. Mary’s.
Continuing to skyrocket their way up the Championship table, they suddenly now sit within touching distance of the play-off places and they are dreaming of the chance to book an immediate Premier League return this season.
Last seen earlier in the week clinching a pulsating 3-2 victory against West Brom, Saturday’s guests have now won six of their previous seven Championship appearances and are enjoying what has become a real purple patch.
Marking their return from November’s international break with a dominant 5-1 romp away at Charlton, Southampton will be dreaming of a repeat performance here.
In fact, getting December underway with a 3-1 win against Birmingham, the Saints have also found a real clinical edge in the final third. It should be highlighted, Eckert’s camp have notched a staggering 21 goals in just their last seven second-tier outings.
While Philippe Clement might have only arrived at Carrow Road less than a month ago, the former Rangers boss will be more than aware that he faces a monumental challenge in Norfolk.
Coming under a huge amount of scrutiny and breaking a string of unwanted records, Norwich find themselves at the heart of a remarkable Championship relegation scrap.
Despite coming from behind earlier in the week as they snatched a 1-1 stalemate away at Sheffield United, the Canaries have astonishingly only mustered a single victory from any of their previous 16 consecutive Championship appearances – a rut that stems all the way back to August 30th.
Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat five points adrift of safety, Norwich are suddenly regarded as a standout relegation contender this season.
Throwing away the lead twice last weekend as they eventually fell to a 3-2 loss against Watford, Saturday’s hosts have also gained a reputation for their glaring defensive struggles. In fact, already shipping 33 Championship strikes, Clement’s side hold the second-worst defensive tally in the division.
Betting Tip: Goal to be scored in both halves @ 2/3
15:00 Leicester City vs Ipswich Town
While Leicester might have got December underway with a much-welcomed 3-1 victory away at Derby, the Foxes were back to their inconstant worst in midweek.
Suffering a major second-half collapse away at Bristol City as they eventually had to settle for a frantic 2-2 stalemate at Ashton Gate, it has been suggested that Marti Cifuentes has some serious pressure on his shoulders.
Signing off November with an action-packed 3-2 loss at home against Sheffield United, the former QPR boss finds his squad scrapping it out in the bottom-half of the Championship standings.
Facing an uphill battle in the race to book a play-off ticket this season, Leicester have registered just a single win from any of their previous four second-tier showdowns.
With their recent struggles underlined by a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Southampton on November 25th, Saturday’s hosts have also shown some major defensive struggles.
Along with shipping nine goals in those four consecutive outings, Leicester have also failed to record a single Championship clean sheet since back on September 20th.
Although Ipswich might have endured a difficult start to proceedings when making their Championship return back in August, the Blues have come roaring back.
Putting in what was a sensational performance last weekend as they stormed their way to a 3-0 romp at home against runaway leaders Coventry, Kieran McKenna’s men have now secured consecutive Championship wins for the first time since the start of November.
In fact, despite suffering a real shock last month as they fell to a 2-1 loss against relegation scrappers Oxford, that is the only defeat that Ipswich have suffered from any of their previous 10 straight outings – a run that stems back to October 21st.
Skyrocketing their way into the play-off places and knowing that they can move within touching distance of the automatic promotion spots here, the Blues should be confident of making another heavyweight statement this weekend.
Travelling to the King Power pencilled in as a standout contender, neutrals could be treated to another enjoyable Championship battle on Saturday afternoon.
Betting Tip: Both teams to score @ 17/20
15:00 Birmingham City vs Charlton Athletic
While Birmingham might have only made their Championship return this season, it is no secret that the Blues have their sights firmly set on mounting a genuine play-off charge in 2026.
However, suffering the most remarkable of last-gasp heartbreak away at QPR earlier in the week as they eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat in west London, Chris Davies’ side have suffered consecutive Championship defeats for the first time since back in September.
Neverthless, getting December underway with a 2-1 victory against Watford and still opening Saturday’s fixtures sat within touching distance of the play-off spots, Birmingham will certainly be excited by their continued dominance on home soil.
Securing back-to-back 4-0 romps against Portsmouth and Millwall prior to November’s international break, the Blues have won all of their previous four consecutive Championship showdowns in front of their own supporters by an aggregate score of 14-2.
It should also be highlighted, Saturday’s hosts have registered at least a pair of goals in all of their last six straight matchups at St. Andrew’s.
Although Charlton might have enjoyed a real October flurry, Nathan Jones’ camp have come crashing back down to earth in an infamous fashion.
Last seen earlier in the week falling to a 2-1 defeat at home against Middlesbrough, the Addicks have come free-falling down the Championship standings and they are now firmly looking over their shoulder at a looming relegation scrap.
With their showdown against Portsmouth scrapped due to a medical emergency in the standings, Saturday’s guests have now lost all of their previous five straight Championship appearances and they have continued to show some glaring defensive issues.
Signing off November with a routine 3-1 loss at the hands of runaway leaders Coventry, Charlton have shipped 14 goals on their five-match losing rut.
Marking their return from November’s fortnight interval with an infamous 5-1 drumming at home against Southampton, Jones’ downbeat squad look set for what will be another stern examination this weekend.
Likewise, the Addicks have also lost all of their last three matchups on the road by an aggregate score of 7-1.
