Bayer Leverkusen coach Robin Dutt is taking nothing for granted ahead of his side’s Champions League clash at Genk on Tuesday.
The Bundesliga outfit have already sealed their place in the knockout stages but victory will see them progress as winners of Group E.
Leverkusen are heavy favourites to beat the Belgians, who lost 7-0 to Valencia last time out, but Dutt intends to field his strongest team to help secure maximum points.
“We will play with our strongest team,” Dutt told reporters. “Valencia and Chelsea were not able to win in Genk.”
Dutt’s sentiments were echoed by Leverkusen captain, Simon Rolfes, who is hopeful that complacency will not be an issue for the visitors.
“The match in Genk is as important as the previous meeting with Chelsea,” the midfielder said, alluding to their 2-1 win over the Premier League outfit in the last round. “We go there to win and defend first place.”
Leverkusen sit top of the group on nine points, one clear of Chelsea and Valencia, who meet at Stamford Bridge.
