Aston Villa boss Unai Emery expressed his delight at seeing Morgan Rogers rewarded for his persistence, after his long wait for a goal ended on Sunday.
Rogers ended a 20-match goal drought in all competitions by finding the net during Villa’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham, marking a welcome return to form after a difficult spell.
The 23-year-old playmaker was instrumental for Villa as they staged a two-goal comeback, with his superb long-range effort in the 37th minute being the catalyst.
The victory ensured Villa continued on their inspired run of recent form, going five unbeaten in the top flight and winning five consecutively across all competitions.

“Always he is doing his task, he is a hard worker,” Emery said during his post-match conference.
“The performance individually was coming, and for the team… if they work, then the quality and the skill will come through.
“Morgan, he was working and sometimes we can play brilliantly and sometimes not brilliantly, but we always have to work hard.
“Morgan is always helping the team for 90 minutes and he has the capacity, physically, to keep it going. Of course, he will need at some moments to rest.”
The Villans return to action on Thursday as they travel to the Netherlands to face Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League.
