FC Tokyo completed a league and cup double with a 4-2 win over fellow J2.League side Kyoto Sanga in the Emperor’s Cup final on Sunday.
The league champions were forced to come from behind but had the game at the National Olympic Stadium won when Lucas Severino completed his brace in the 66th minute.
It marks the first time Tokyo have won the Emperor’s Cup, and also gives them a place in the AFC Champions League – alongside Ulsan, Brisbane Roar and Beijing Guoan in Group F.
Kyoto Sanga captain Hiroki Nakayama gave his side a 14th-minute lead with a neat finish, but Yasuyuki Konno equalised soon after with a header.
Masato Morishige hit a stunning set piece to put Tokyo ahead nine minutes from half-time, and they would net once more before the break.
Brazilian Severino struck clinically in a one-on-one, before he completed his brace with another classy finish in the 66th minute.
Striker Yuya Kubo grabbed a late consolation for Kyoto Sanga as Tokyo held on for a convincing win.
