Former Fiorentina boss Palladino replaces Juric at Atalanta

Atalanta have announced former Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach following the sacking of Ivan Juric.

Juric was relieved of his duties on Monday in the wake of a 3-0 defeat at home to Sassuolo, leaving Atalanta without a win in their last seven league games and 13th in the table.

Indeed, it is the first time Atalanta have gone seven matches without a win in the top flight since 2018.

And Palladino has been the man tasked with turning the club’s fortunes around, just six months after leaving Fiorentina by mutual consent.

The 41-year-old began his career with Monza and led the team to 11th and 12th place finishes in Serie A before replacing Vincenzo Italiano at Fiorentina in June 2024.

Palladino guided the club to sixth in his first season in charge, also securing Conference League football and their best league finish since 2015-16 under Paulo Sousa.

However, just three weeks after signing a contract extension, Palladino left the club in May.

Palladino has overseen 108 Serie A matches throughout his career, triumphing in 44 of those games (D29 L35), equating to a win percentage of 40.7%.

His first assignment with his new club does not come any tougher, with a trip to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to face Serie A champions Napoli on November 22.
