Basel winger Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed that he is interested in a possible transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The Istanbul outfit confirmed their interest in the Switzerland international earlier in the week and Shaqiri has now spoken of his admiration for the club and their coach Fatih Terim.

“I’ve always admired Galatasaray as a successful club and Fatih Terim as an excellent coach,” the 20-year-old said after his side’s friendly with NEC Nijmegen.

“When the offer came in, I certainly wasn’t thinking about going to Turkey, but I now need to sit down, look at their proposal and consider it.”

Basel president Bernhard Heusler has confirmed that they have received an offer from Galatasaray, but stated that it did not match their valuation of the player.

“We have received a proposal from the Turks. At the moment we are considering it but we are not prepared to sell at this price.”
