AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani says Alexandre Pato will not be joining Manchester City in a swap move with Carlos Tevez.
The Italian giants are interested in signing the Argentine on-loan but English Premier League leaders City are holding out, preferring to sell their wantaway striker on a permanent basis.
Speculation had mounted that City had asked for Pato or another top player from the Serie A club in return, but Galliani played down such talk.
Milan are believed to have rivals for Tevez’s signature, including league foes Juventus and cashed-up Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
“There is an offer sent to Manchester for Tevez,” Galliani told milannews.it.
“However, we have not spoken about any of our players going to City or any other club.”
“Our fans can be calm because this is the truth.”
Galliani is aware that City are unwilling to loan their player but said his club will not back down if the Eastlands club refuse to accept the proposed offer.
“We know that City’s desire is to sell the player but our offer is to get the player on loan with an option to make that deal permanent,” he said.
“We hope that City says yes because our offer will not be modified.”
