Santos star Ganso has backtracked on earlier claims that he has sold 10 per cent of his contract rights to an investment group.
The Brazilian club made a stern response to Ganso’s claims, saying he could not make such a deal without their consent.
The No. 10, now back in Brazil after the Peixe’s Club World Cup final defeat on Sunday at the hands of Barcelona, had previously confirmed that he had sold the part of his contract that remained in his own hands to the DIS group.
Ganso had also commented that he made this decision after Santos declined to buy them.
Speaking on Tuesday, however, the midfielder was quick to state that his previous declarations did not mean he had finalised the deal.
“The sale has still not been completed. It is something which still needs to be agreed with Santos, it was not really a sale, more a pre-agreement,” he told Globoesporte on arriving back in Sao Paulo.
“But now I need to sit down with Santos to define everything.”
Ganso has refused to commit his long-term future to Santos, stating that he would discuss a new contract after the Club World Cup.
His club had made it clear that any sale of his contract rights could not go ahead without their permission.
