Lyon coach Remi Garde has expressed his disappointment with his side’s 1-0 Ligue 1 loss against Montpellier on Saturday.
A victory would have propelled Lyon into second place in the table, but Olivier Giroud’s strike meant they left Montpellier empty handed – much to the dismay of Garde.
“We sensed we’d been placed in danger by a good Montpellier side but I also have the feeling we could have done better,” Garde told the Ligue 1 website.
“I’m disappointed with the result but pleased with the spirit shown by my team. Montpellier were better armed than us and they were a bit lucky with the Giroud goal.”
“We’ve played three games in a week and the fixture list wasn’t kind to us. The league remains our primary focus.”
Lyon sit fourth in the Ligue 1 table with 35 points from 20 games.
