Manchester United want to hand Harry Maguire a new contract, according to Football Insider. The England international central defender himself is open to staying at Old Trafford.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke said on the Inside Track podcast: “Well, that winning goal at Anfield hasn’t done any harm at all, has it?
“Obviously, a real big moment for Maguire,, getting that late goal against Liverpool [19 October] to get them a win at Anfield for such a long time as well.
As long as he’s still got an important role to play, for Manchester United, I still feel there’s a willingness from all parties to get a new contract done.
“Maguire is very much open to staying at Man United. There’s been talk of reported interest from the Saudi pro league, but Maguire would prefer to stay at Manchester United as long as the terms are right.
“Look, he’s obviously in the final few months of his contract right now and talks are ongoing between United and Maguire’s representatives. I think it’s more likely that he will sign a new deal. It’ll obviously be on new terms as well.
“So I think with the willingness from all parties to get a deal done, you would expect that Maguire will get a new contract with Manchester United and extend his stay at Old Trafford.”
