Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes said the injury to Mario Gomez in Saturday’s friendly win over Al-Ahly is nothing serious.

The in-form striker lasted just 11 minutes of the game in Qatar after taking a knock to his right foot which left him with a sore big toe.

However, Heynckes said he had only withdrawn the Germany striker as a precaution.

“There is no serious injury,” he told the club website.

“He could no longer turn. But I hope that he can return to training on Sunday.”

Bayern won the game 2-1, thanks to an injury-time strike from Ivica Olic, with Mohammad Barakat having earlier cancelled out team-mate Ahmed el Sayed’s first-half own goal.
