Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has ruled out selling Ivica Olic during the January transfer window.
The 32-year-old has already confirmed that he will quit the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, but revealed on Thursday that there is a chance he could depart before then.
Talking ahead of Sunday’s Bundesliga encounter with Stuttgart, however, Heynckes, said the Croatia forward was going nowhere: “I will not allow Olic to leave us,” he said.
They Bayern boss also confirmed that midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger – sidelined since November 2’s Champions League win over Napoli at the Allianz Arena after breaking his clavicle – is back in training.
“We will wait and see whether we can bring him back into the squad against Cologne (on December 16),” he said.
Bayern hold a one-point lead over reigning champions Borussia Dortmund atop the Bundesliga table, and Heynckes knows how crucial every match has become.
He also made it clear the threat Stuttgart posed for his side on Sunday.
“We know from last season and other past games at Stuttgart that they always give 80 or 90 percent when they come up against Bayern,” he said.
“It’s not usually possible to give a full 100 percent but nonetheless they give even more than they normally do. It’s always a full house down there in Stuttgart, and there’s always a brilliant atmosphere.”
“I’m of the opinion that once more we need to go out there as the away team and take the game to our opponents, we want to go and win the match. The team that wants it most will win, so we need to have a sense of purpose when we take the field.”
