Ted Howard has been appointed as the new general secretary of CONCACAF, replacing the outgoing Chuck Blazer.
The 66-year-old stepped down from his role after revealing that Mohammed Bin Hammam and Jack Warner worked to oust FIFA president Sepp Blatter through buying votes from Caribbean Football Union members.
Bin Hammam, who was the Asian football chief at the time, was handed a life ban from the game through Blazer’s testimony, while the Trinidad and Tobago executive chose to resign despite maintaining his innocence.
Blazer had initially indicated that he would leave the post with CONCACAF in October, but remained on duty until the end of the year. His replacement was confirmed on the organisation’s official website.
Howard has been in the role of deputy general secretary of CONCACAF since 1998, and will now make the step up to replace Blazer with immediate effect.
