Inter´s winning run hits holiday hurdle

Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso said only time will tell whether the New Year’s break will affect his side’s winning run.

Claudio Ranieri’s men recorded their fourth consecutive win with a come-from-behind 4-1 thrashing of lowly Lecce in the Serie A on Wednesday.

Inter’s next outing is a clash against Parma on January 7, and Cambiasso remains unsure whether the break will halt his team’s winning form.

“In January, you will surely have time to say how the break was useful to one team or the other one,” the Argentine said.

The 31-year-old was used as a substitute and was on the scoresheet – alongside Giampaolo Pazzini, Diego Milito and Ricardo Alvarez.

Cambiasso said he was unfazed by starting on the bench, backing Ranieri’s decision to try different combinations against the bottom-placed Lecce.

“I don’t comment on the manager’s choices, but it’s surely a bit of everything. I played all the fixtures and it’s normal I’m a bit tired, as it’s normal that the manager tries to find other solutions,” he said.

“Everything is normal. The most important thing is that we won. It comes after some victories in a row and that’s a good way to end the year and try to start 2012 in the same way.”
