Russian club Rubin Kazan have signed Iran international goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi on a four-year contract.

The 23-year-old keeper, who becomes the first Iranian to play for a Russian club, has joined from Persepolis for an undisclosed fee.

However, according to Persepolis chairman Mohammad Rouyanian the contract is worth 950,000 euros.

Haghighi was said to be on Rubin’s radar in December and officially left Persepolis earlier in the week for Russia.

The current third-choice Iran national team keeper is billed as a major future prospect for Team Melli.
