Brighton and Hove Albion could be forced to sell Jan Paul van Hecke if a club playing in the UEFA Champions League make a move for him, according to Football Insider.
Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were interested in the defender in the summer transfer window.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke said: “If a Champions League club came calling, [Van Hecke] might be interested in a move away to progress his career and play at the highest level possible.
“Brighton are obviously very happy with him, but there’ll be clubs looking at Van Hecke because at 25, he’s got real potential to become a top, top player for club and country.
“It’s no surprise that some of the bigger clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on him.”
Van Hecke has been on the books of Brighton since 2020 and is one of the best defenders in the Premier League. The 25-year-old has played six times for the Netherlands.
