Alex Jimenez revealed that he apologised to Massimiliano Allegri after calling him a “s*** coach” following his exit from AC Milan.

The Spanish full-back left the Rossoneri for Bournemouth in the Premier League in the 2025-26 season, in an initial loan move that became permanent.

The 20-year-old has become a regular for the Cherries, after playing 26 Serie A games for Milan following his breakthrough in the first team in 2023-24.

Jimenez came through the Real Madrid academy before making his switch to Milan, but faced a turbulent 2024-25 with the Rossoneri, who saw Stefano Pioli, Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao all come and go during the campaign.

Leaked text messages from Jimenez saw him criticise Allegri, which the defender now regrets doing.

“It was rubbish, I don’t think Allegri is a sh** coach and his history proves that,” Jimenez told Sky Sports Italia.

“I was coming out of a game, I hadn’t played and I was angry, I chose the wrong person to send that message to.

“From day one, I apologised to Allegri, I didn’t think about what I was writing. He accepted my apology.

“All these situations took away from my sense of serenity, and I was the one who told the club to look for solutions [in the transfer market].

“Milan is a club that I love and I didn’t want to feel bad or negatively impact the team with my bad phase.

“I don’t think it was ever a problem with the coaches, it was a team problem. We needed to have more confidence in ourselves.

“That’s how it is in football, one year you do badly and the next you do well. Look how it is now.”
