Juventus moved up to fourth in the Serie A table after a resounding 5-0 win over Cremonese at Allianz Stadium on Monday.

Inter, AC Milan and Napoli all dropped points over the weekend, and Juventus took full advantage to close the gap to the top three.

Juventus made a lightning-quick start, with Jonathan David hitting the post from a tight angle before Bremer gave them a 12th-minute lead by being in the right place to deflect Fabio Miretti’s shot past Emil Audero.

And just three minutes later, they doubled their advantage from a blistering counter-attack as David picked out the bottom-right corner after being fed by Kephren Thuram.

Cremonese then had a penalty overturned in the 27th minute, leading to Davide Nicola being shown a red card for his furious reaction, while Juventus got a spot-kick of their own shortly after for Federico Baschirotto’s handball.

Kenan Yildiz saw that penalty tipped onto the post, but he turned in the rebound 35 minutes in to put Juventus in total control.

Cremonese continued to struggle in the second half, conceding an own goal after Matteo Bianchetti turned Weston McKennie’s cross onto the back of a sliding Filippo Terracciano, but the American got Juve’s fifth with a thumping header.

David saw another late goal ruled out for offside, but it mattered little with all three points already secured.

Data Debrief: Spalletti continues to turn the tide

Since the beginning of November, when Luciano Spalletti first took charge of Juventus, only Inter (25 points, eight wins) have collected more points and won more matches than the Bianconeri (24 points, seven wins) in Serie A.

It was a stellar attacking performance from Juve, who scored at least five goals in a single league game for the first time since February 2018 against Sassuolo (7-0).

They had 18 shots, with 11 of those on target, as they generated 3.38 expected goals (xG). Cremonese, by contrast, got just two of their nine attempts on target and racked up just 0.91 xG.
