Vincent Kompany has set Harry Kane the task of leading Bayern Munich to trophies this season.

Kane scored in Bayern’s 4-0 rout of Heidenheim on Sunday, as the Bundesliga leaders opened up a nine-point gap at the summit heading into the winter break.

The England captain has now hit 100 goal involvements in the Bundesliga (81 goals, 19 assists). He has achieved the feat in just 78 league games.

That is 41 games faster than the previous record holder, Arjen Robben, who did so in 199 appearances.

Kompany is thrilled for Kane’s record-breaking feats, with the 32-year-old having scored a career-best 51 club goals in 2025, but now the Bayern boss wants the striker to propel the Bavarian giants to more trophies.

“He won two titles this year for the first time in his career. So I think he has a lot of individual records. He’ll keep having a lot of individual records because he’s a special player,” Kompany said.

“But I think that now the most important for him is to keep winning titles.”

Kane has won two titles with Bayern so far, triumphing in last season’s Bundesliga, as well as the Super Cup.

“Extremely proud, obviously,” Kane said of his record.

“I think it’s been entirely of the commitment that I put in every day and the work that I put in, also to the teammates, to the coaching staff who keep making me better, keep making me improve.

“And yeah, look, I don’t focus too much on these things, but when they happen, I just look forward to bringing on the next one. So let’s see how quick we can get the next 100.”

In finishing 2025 at the top of the standings, Bayern became the first team in Bundesliga history to sit at the summit of the table at the end of every matchday across a whole calendar year.
