Academia missed a chance to close the gap on the top five in Liga Sagres following a 1-1 draw at Vitoria Setubal on Friday.

Marinho gave visitors Academia a 1-0 lead when he scored his first goal of the campaign after 49 minutes at Estadio do Bonfim.

Vitoria drew level soon afterwards courtesy of Jorge Gonclaves’ 60th-minute strike, but could not muster a winner that would have helped them move clear of relegation trouble.

The result leaves Bruno Ribeiro’s side on 14 points, three clear of the drop zone.

Academia remain in sixth, four points behind fifth-placed Maritimo, but can be usurped in the standings by Beira Mar, who host Sporting Braga on Monday.
