Liverpool linked with Lionel Messi

Liverpool are keen on a loan deal for Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi, according to Sport. The Spanish publication has sensationally claimed that Liverpool are among the clubs exploring the possibility of signing the Barcelona legend in the January transfer window.

Major League Soccer is in its off-season now, which has reportedly led Liverpool and several other European clubs to take a keen interest in Messi, one of the greatest players of all time. The defending Premier League champions are ‘among the strongest contenders’ for the 38-year-old Argentina international forward.

Messi has been at Inter Miami since 2023 and is under contract at the MLS outfit until December 2028. The former Paris Saint-Germain forward has scored 77 goals in 88 matches for Inter, while also giving 44 assists. The forward has won the MLS Cup, the Supporters’ Shield and the Leagues Cup with The Herons so far in his career.
