David Beckham is adamant his focus remains on the London Olympics and not on a switch to a London club.

Beckham wrapped up his club commitments with LA Galaxy in Melbourne on Tuesday, straining his already injured hamstring in a club friendly against Australian side Melbourne Victory.

While he remained tight-lipped on where his club future lies, he stated he may wait until after Christmas to decide whether he remains in LA or returns to Europe.

Beckham was emphatic that he would not return to England to play for any other club but the one he made his name at.

“I’m a Man United fan through and through and I always said when I left Man United, it would always be difficult for me to go back and play in the Premiership for any other team but Manchester United,” he said.

“I’ve got huge respect for the teams I have trained with. I trained at Arsenal for a month, I trained at Tottenham for a couple months and it would be very difficult for me to play anywhere else apart from Manchester United.”

But while ruling out any move apart from to Old Trafford, something that is extremely unlikely to happen, Beckham’s heart is firmly for the city of his birth and he is determined to represent Great Britain in next year’s Olympics.

“I’m a Leytonstone boy, east end of London is where I grew up and the Olympics is something I would love to be part of and that would be exciting,” he said.

“It’s in a part of London, where my Grandad played on Hackney marshes, my Dad played on Hackney marshes and so did I. So to have the Olympics down there now, it would be nice to be involved in that.”

Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris St Germain remain the front runners for his services, but the 36-year-old is far from ready to decide what lies next.

“I’m going to go home now and do some Christmas shopping and go back to London for Christmas and then back in LA in January because the kids are back in school,” he said.

“I need to take some time to rest and get my body back into order and then we’ll see.”

His Galaxy coach Bruce Arena not yet ready to give up on retaining Beckham, describing is career in the United States to date as remarkable and saying he was still a very valuable on-field asset to the MLS champions.

“You never know, it’s a decision David needs to make with his management and his family,” Arena said.

“We’re hopeful he returns and I certainly wouldn’t rule it out. We would welcome having David back. We’ll be patient about it.”

“I think he enjoys the team, he enjoys the challenge and the league, he enjoys his life off the field and so we are hopeful if all those things add up, he’ll decide to return.”
