Sporting Kansas City head coach Raphael Wicky is “100% convinced” that his side will start winning if they continue to work hard.
Kansas City are one of just two teams, along with St. Louis City, in the Western Conference yet to win a game in MLS this season.
After opening their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes, a 1-0 loss to San Diego FC followed a 2-2 draw with the Columbus Crew.
With a trip to the Los Angeles Galaxy next up on SKC’s schedule, Wicky is feeling optimistic amid their poor start to the 2026 season.
“The results are not always what we hope, that is for sure, but I think I’m also trying to look at performance,” said Wicky after their loss to San Diego.
“With a young team, we’re in these games. We have to keep working hard, keep believing, keep giving these young players opportunities to grow, and as well, learn and do the things better, which we have to do better.
“We’ve got to keep working. We’ve got to take the positive out of that. The energy from the team was good.
“We’ve got to take that and keep working hard. And then I’m 100% convinced that we will win games.”

LA Galaxy, meanwhile, fell to their first defeat of the season last time out with a 4-1 loss against the Colorado Rapids.
Gabriel Pec’s red card was the catalyst in that defeat, but the Galaxy bounced back with a 3-0 win over Mount Pleasant in the Champions Cup.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Los Angeles Galaxy – Joao Klauss
Klauss has scored in each of his first three regular-season matches for LA Galaxy, becoming the second player in club history to do so after Carlos Ruiz scored in each of his first four matches with the Galaxy in 2002.
Sporting Kansas City – Dejan Joveljic
Joveljic is SKC’s only goalscorer this season; he scored both goals in their 2-2 draw with Columbus on MD2.
The Serbian forward spent four seasons with the Galaxy before his move to Kansas City, with his most prolific season coming in 2024 (21 goals, eight assists).
MATCH PREDICTION – LOS ANGELES GALAXY WIN
LA Galaxy have won three of their last four meetings with Sporting KC (L1), including a 4-1 home win in the last meeting between the sides last September.
The Galaxy had managed just two wins in their previous 16 matches against SKC dating back to October 2015.
LA Galaxy are also unbeaten in five straight MLS home matches (W4 D1). Since the start of the 2024 season, the Galaxy have recorded 25 home wins in MLS matches (including playoffs) with only Inter Miami and Los Angeles FC (27 each) posting more.
Kansas City have lost seven straight away matches dating back to last July, including opening the season with a 3-0 loss at San Jose. SKC have lost 26 of their last 33 matches away from home dating back to May 2024 (W4 D3).
OPTA WIN PROBABILITY
Los Angeles Galaxy – 60.2%
Draw – 20.9%
Sporting Kansas City – 18.9%
