Manchester City have told Stefan Ortega that he can leave in the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that after Man City signed James Trafford from Burnley, the Cityzens have told Ortega that he is free to leave.
Romano wrote on X: “Manchester City have informed Stefan Ortega that he can leave the club this summer following Trafford’s arrival.”
Ortega has been at Man City since 2022 and has been the second-choice goalkeeper behind Ederson. While there is speculation on the future of Ederson, who has been linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League in the summer transfer window, the signing of Trafford suggests that Man City do not think that the 32-year-old Ortega is good enough to be the number one between the posts.
