Manchester City have placed a hefty price-tag on James McAtee, according to TBR. Nottingham Forest are keen on signing McAtee in the summer transfer window and have made a bid of £25 million, but the Reds have been told that Man City want as much as £40 million for the 22-year-old Englishman.
McAtee is out of contract at Man City at the end of next season, and the 22-year-old midfielder may not sign a new deal. However, the Cityzens are adamant that £40 million is the right valuation of a player who has scored seven goals in 34 appearances for the Premier League giants.
Journalist Graeme Bailey told TBR: “Man City believe McAtee is worth £40m, but the fact he has only 12 months left on his deal is an issue, and interested clubs think his value is some way off that.
“City at this point are saying they don’t need to sell and McAtee will remain with them unless their demands are met, but McAtee’s camp are confident he will finalise an exit soon.”
