Manchester United made it two wins from two at the Premier League Summer Series with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Bournemouth at Soldier Field.

Patrick Dorgu was the star for the Red Devils with a goal and an assist in Chicago, and United sit top of the league.

It took just eight minutes for Rasmus Hojlund to get Ruben Amorim’s side off the mark, rising to guide a deft header past Djorde Petrovic from Dorgu’s cross.

And the left-wing back added to their tally 17 minutes later; a quickly taken free-kick from Mason Mount caught out the Bournemouth backline as Dorgu fired his low finish under the goalkeeper.

Mount drilled narrowly wide after the break before Amad Diallo got their third, profiting from a scramble in the box to pick out the bottom-left corner with a first-time finish in the 53rd minute.

David Brooks hit the crossbar with Bournemouth’s best chance, but United extended their lead again in the 72nd minute as Ethan Williams curled in a composed finish from inside the box.

Bournemouth did earn a consolation with only two minutes left as Matthijs de Ligt inadvertently sent Brooks’ squared delivery past a wrong-footed Tom Heaton.

Despite defeat, the Cherries remain second in the table, above West Ham, who came from behind thanks to Lucas Paqueta and Niclas Fullkrug’s goals to beat Everton 2-1.

Elsewhere in the United States, United-linked Ollie Watkins helped Aston Villa earn a 2-1 victory over St. Louis City SC, with Morgan Rogers also getting on the scoresheet.

Data Debrief: United spread the goals around

Amorim said that Bruno Fernandes would get more help from his team-mates this year, and with four different scorers on Wednesday, that looks to be the case.

United were clinical in their attacks, netting their haul from 1.33 expected goals (xG) and six shots on target (13 overall).

Bournemouth actually accumulated a narrowly higher xG of 1.38, though only hit the target with three of their 11 attempts. Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson both missed ‘big’ chances to get Andoni Iraola’s side back into the game.
