AC Milan defender Mario Yepes is facing several weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The Colombian centre-back limped off in the second half of the Rossoneri’s 2-2 draw with Bologna on Sunday.

A scan has shown major damage to his right ankle, but the full extent of the 35-year-old’s problem will only be known after he undergoes further tests on Wednesday.

The news of Yepes’ injury comes as a heavy blow to coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is already without the services of Alessandro Nesta .

Milan, who are two points behind Udinese and Juventus in the Serie A table, will take on Siena and Cagliari before the winter break.
