Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise has earned high praise from his coach Johan Neeskens.
Modise endured much criticism in recent seasons, but ‘the Navigator’ has found his way back to form in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League this campaign – he has started 15 matches in all competitions for Sundowns, scoring four goals, and Neeskens admits that he is hugely impressed with the playmaker.
“I don’t care about what happened in the past with him at other clubs with other coaches. I care about what he does in training and in games. Teko has many qualities and he shows me his class during training and on match days,” Neeskens told Kick Off magazine.
“People can say things about him, but I spend nearly every day watching him and he has impressed me. He is an important player for the team and has leadership ability.”
The Dutchman, who scored the opening goal in the 1974 World Cup, expects Modise to get even better.
“And there is still more to come from him. I want to see all of his qualities in action,” Neeskens said.
