Barcelona defender Martin Montoya has agreed to renew his contract for two more years.

Reports in November claimed the Spain Under-21 international was closing in on a contract extension and the right-back will now make the deal official on Wednesday.

Montoya’s new contract will run until June 2014, with a buy-out clause worth 12 million euros until the end of the season, before being raised to 20m euros in 2012-13, according to the club website.

Montoya’s previous agreement was set to expire at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old had been linked with Roma, following former Barcelona B coach Luis Enrique’s move to the Stadio Olimpico.
