Marseille defender Jeremy Morel has urged his team to stay focused and not contemplate Ligue 1 standings despite their form run.
Didier Deschamps’ men have gone nine games without defeat in all competitions, sitting sixth in the league.
Morel said he wanted his side to maintain concentration and continue working hard to prolong their resurgence after a poor start in the league.
“We know that in football, nothing is certain. So, if we start putting in less effort for each other, things will start to go wrong again. It’s a very hard balance to find,” the full-back said on Wednesday.
“For the moment, we’re not thinking about first place or second place (in Ligue 1). We just want to keep up the good work and play well.”
“If we do that then we should not end up too far from our objectives.”
Marseille meet Ligue 2 side Le Havre in the Coupe de France in a round-of-32 clash at Stade Velodrome on Sunday.
Morel, who joined from fellow Ligue 1 side Lorient in June last year, said he was confident Marseille could win their 11th Coupe de France.
“I came to Marseille to win as many trophies as possible, so you won’t hear me complaining about the number of games we would have to play (to reach the final),” he said.
“When we start a competition, we all want to go all the way, and I think we can do it.”
