Mueller targets triple crown

Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Mueller says he wants his side to win three titles this season.

Bayern are top of the Bundesliga and have also qualified for the quarter-finals of the German Cup, as well as the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The side are currently on mid-season training camp in Doha, Qatar, where they will play a friendly against Egyptian club Al Ahly on Saturday.

“We want to win three titles. But Its always hard to say. To start of you have to win one in the first place,” Mueller said.

“But, if anything, we want all three. There is no doubt that we will face opponents in the Champions League that that have strong squads, and that the title is even more prestigious because we haven’t won in a while now.”

“So it is understandable that if you had to decide to win one or the other tournament for sure, many would choose the Champions League.”

“But we didn’t win the Bundesliga last year, so there is still some catching up to do there, so it’s not like we could say: ‘the championship is not as important’. That would be nonsense.”

The Bundesliga season resumes on January 20.
