Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini says coach Bortolo Mutti will be staying at the club, despite going winless since taking over in December.
The 57-year-old coach returned for a second spell at the Renzo Barbera in December, replacing previous manager Devis Mangia.
Mutti met with Zamparini on Monday and despite the Sicilian club’s flagging fortunes, the president said he can see signs of improvement under the new boss.
“I sent him away (from the meeting), the supporters can rest easy,” Zamparini told Radio One. “I saw a good game at Chievo (a 1-0 loss on Sunday), although you have to score to win points.”
“Juventus also suffered at the Bentegodi – Chievo’s determination is their biggest quality.”
Mutti followed up on his president’s sentiments in a separate interview, calling for tranquillity at the club and outlining what he feels they must improve on if they are to string wins together.
“Now we must remain calm, (there is) no need to create illusions,” Mutti told Tele Giornale di Sicilia.
“We are not doing enough, and it seems essential to switch up our game considering where we are (in the table).”
Palermo are in 14th place in the Serie A table, and play host to Genoa on January 22 with the aim of earning their first win in seven matches.
