Newcastle United are interested in signing Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun. The Magpies had a bid of £45 million for Elanga turned down earlier this week, and the UEFA Champions League club are planning to make a new and improved offer of £50 million.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Newcastle are aiming to make three major signings this summer. Along with Elanga, Brighton and Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro and Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford are the main targets for manager Eddie Howe, with the Magpies ready to spend £140 million on the trio.
Newcastle finished in the top five of the Premier League table last season and will feature in the UEFA Champions League in the 2025-26 campaign. It is the second time since Howe became the Newcastle manager in 2021 that the Premier League club have qualified for Europe’s premier club competition.
