October 2nd: Thursday’s Europa Conference League Double – 6/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the new Europa Conference League campaign getting underway, clubs from across the continent will be looking to get their respective adventures underway with an early statement of intent.

Watching English giants Chelsea becoming just the fourth club to be crowned Conference League champions, we have plenty of European heavyweights who are pencilled in as standout title contenders this year.

Ahead of a stacked schedule on Thursday night, we have taken a glance at some of the most attractive Europa Conference League betting tips.

20:00 Slovan Bratislava vs Strasbourg

Making real history last season as they stormed their way to a record-breaking seventh consecutive domestic crown, Slovan Bratislava have only continued on from where they left off to the summer break. Last seen extended in their stellar start to proceedings as they secured a 2-1 victory away at Trencin, Vladimir Weiss’ men have once again skyrocketed their way to the top of the First League standings. However, despite extending on their Slovak Cup campaign last month as they clinched a rollercoaster 4-2 win against Nadszeg, the Sky Blues know the importance of finding some much-welcomed defensive stability. Watching their respective Europa League qualifying adventure come to screeching end on August 28th as they fell to a 4-2 aggregate defeat against Young Boys, Slovan Bratislava have failed to muster a single clean sheet in their previous eight appearances across all competitions. Likewise, Thursday’s hosts have also conceded at least a pair of strikes in five of their last six outings.

While Strasbourg might have marked their return from September’s international break with consecutive Ligue 1 victories, Liam Rosenior’s men failed to collected what would have been a heavyweight scalp last time out. Falling to a 2-1 defeat at home against Champions League outfit Marseille, the former Hull City boss will be dreaming of an immediate response here. Getting their iconic Europa Conference League adventure underway on foreign soil, some are billing Le Racing as a potential title dark horse this season. Sat within touching distance of climbing to the top of the Ligue 1 standings, Thursday’s guests should also be excited by their recent success away from the Stade de la Meinau. Making real history over in Denmark on August 28th as they secured a famous 3-2 victory against Brondby, Strasbourg have won three of their first away fixtures across all competitions so far this season. It should also be highlighted, Rosenior’s men have suffered just a single defeat on their travels since the start of February.

20:00 AEK Larnaca vs AZ Alkmaar

Starting with the hosts, while AEK Larnaca might have suffered Europa League heartbreak back in August as they eventually fell to a 6-1 aggregate defeat against Norwegian outfit Brann, Imanol Idiakez’s men certainly haven’t shown any signs of a hangover. Despite settling for a downbeat fourth-place finish among Cyprus’ elite last season, the former Villarreal coach has his sights firmly set on mounting a genuine domestic title charge this time around. Last seen over the weekend putting in another dominant display as they cruised their way to a 4-0 romp away at Krasava, the Yellow and Greens have also found a real clinical edge in the final third. Landing a dramatic 3-2 win at home against historic rivals Bris Limassol on September 22nd, Idiakez’s side have registered seven goals in their back-to-back domestic victories. It should also be highlighted, Thursday’s hosts have not suffered a single defeat in front of their own supporters across any competition since way back on January 3rd.

As for the visitors, watching their sensational start to proceedings coming to an abrupt end last time out, AZ Alkmaar is seeking an immediate European response here. Eventually falling to a 2-1 loss away at Nijmegen, that is the first competitive defeat that Maarten Martens’ men have suffered across any competition since opening up the new campaign. Marking their return from September’s international break with a 2-1 victory against Heracles, the Cheese Farmers have received plenty of plaudits from across Holland’s elite. Punching their Europa Conference League group stage ticket on August 28th as they claimed a thumping 6-2 aggregate win against Bulgarian outfit Levski, AZ Alkmaar have also gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. Playing out a pulsating 3-3 stalemate against Dutch giants Feyenoord a fortnight ago, Thursday’s guests have notched 15 goals in their first seven Eredivisie showdowns. Likewise, AZ’s four appearances since returning from September’s fortnight interval have produced 16 goals at both ends of the pitch.
