Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo believes the season can only get better for the Serie A club.
Osvaldo scored in the 59th minute as Roma beat 3-1 at Napoli’s Stadio San Paolo on Sunday.
Roma took the lead after two minutes and 15 seconds.
Erik Lamela crossed for Fabio Simplicio, but it was deflected off Salvatore Aronica to bounce in off keeper Morgan De Sanctis’ arm.
“I think we have produced a great performance against a very strong team,” Osvaldo said.
“In my opinion they played very well. Luckily we managed to score more goals. I hope this match represents a turning point for us.”
The win took Roma to seventh on the table, two behind Napoli.
“We’e remaining focused match after match,” Osvaldo said.
“Now we hope we’ll win in Bologna so we can go into the Christmas break happy.”
“We hope that in the second half of the season we’ll play better than in the first half.”
Meanwhile, De Sanctis blamed defensive lapses for loss.
“In the last five league matches we’ve lost our defensive solidity, which has been our trademark in the last two and a half years,” De Sanctis said.
“We have conceded 10 goals in the last five matches and this is not a positive sign.”
“If we manage to fix this situation, I believe the team – which is usually able to score goals and create chances – would have the ability to finish high up the table.”
