Papp excited by Lazio interest

Vaslui’s Paul Papp has confirmed his interest in joining Lazio just days after lining up against the Serie A side in the Europa League.

The 22-year-old central defender, who played all 90 minutes of Thursday’s 0-0 draw in Romania, claims that his representative has already been contacted by the Serie A outfit.

“I have not spoken directly with any Lazio directors but my new agent told me that there has been contact,” Papp told Corriere dello Sport.

“It’s clear that, for me, the chance to play in Rome would be a dream. I would love it.”

“For now, however, I will stay in Romania (but) we will see what happens in the coming weeks.”

“Playing in Italy does not scare me. I feel ready to play in (that) championship.”

Papp, who can also play at full-back, is considered one of Romania’s brightest young talents and has already been capped six times by the national team.
