Former Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic praised the impact Djordje Petrovic has made as Andoni Iraola’s team push for European football.

Petrovic’s clean sheet against Brentford last time out helped Bournemouth extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to nine games, the longest current run in the division.

The goalkeeper made two crucial saves to deny Sepp van den Berg and Dango Ouattara in the second half against the seventh-placed Bees, leaving Bournemouth four points behind Keith Andrews’ side.

Petrovic has kept eight clean sheets this season in the English top-flight, and will be hoping to take his tally to nine when the Cherries face Burnley in an away match on Saturday.

Begovic enjoyed the 26-year-old’s display last time out, lauding the goalkeeper’s consistency throughout 2025-26.

“I enjoyed Djordje’s performance against Brentford,” Begovic told Bournemouth’s official website.

“He has been such a constant for this team, it was a great clean sheet and I’m very pleased to see him doing so well.

“I thought he was really solid and I think he’s been solid all season. He’s very consistent, which is always good for a goalkeeper.

“It’s not easy coming from a big club like Chelsea. You come with expectation and there’s pressure.

“It was really good for him to come here, to a great club and to play every week in the Premier League.”

Burnley, meanwhile, are nine points adrift of safety after a 2-0 defeat to Everton last week.

The Clarets have won just once since the turn of the year, but Scott Parker insisted his side remain united in their fight for Premier League survival.

“The togetherness in the group is still there,” said Parker. “We need to stick together and keep showing the honesty and endeavour that this team prides itself on.

“We knew the challenge that was ahead of us this season – and after some good performances of late, we’ve fallen short.

“We have to go again quickly when we get back to action against Bournemouth.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Burnley – Zian Flemming

Burnley’s joint-top scorer this season, Flemming (seven goals) has netted in his last two Premier League appearances.

He last scored in three consecutive league games in February-March 2023 in the Championship with Millwall. However, Flemming did not feature against Everton due to injury.

Bournemouth – Marcus Tavernier

Tavernier had more shots (five) and more touches in the box (seven) than any other player in their draw with Brentford, while he also struck the woodwork twice.

Only against Sheffield United in November 2023 has he had more attempts (six) in a Premier League game.

MATCH PREDICTION: BOURNEMOUTH WIN

Having won six of their first eight Premier League games against Bournemouth (L2), Burnley are now winless in their last three (D1 L2).

Bournemouth have won just two of their 15 away league games against Burnley (D6 L7), although these two wins have come across their last four visits, including 2-0 last time out in March 2024.

Burnley are without a win in their last 10 home league games (D3 L7) since beating Leeds United 2-0 in October. In their league history, the Clarets have never gone 11 successive home matches without winning within a single season.

The Clarets, however, may be hopeful knowing that Bournemouth have drawn three and lost one of their four Premier League games against promoted teams this season.

Only Manchester United’s Premier League games have seen more goals (91) than Bournemouth’s this season (90, level with Burnley). Despite this, no side has had more 0-0 draws than the Cherries this term (four).

OPTA WIN PROBABILITY

Burnley – 25.5%

Draw – 23.2%

Bournemouth – 51.3%
