Portugal legend and former Benfica star Eusebio has been taken to hospital in Lisbon with bronchial pneumonia.
The Hospital da Luz medical director Jose Roquete has described Eusebio’s condition as ‘not serious but requiring hospitalisation’, and a further statement on the 69-year-old’s situation is expected to be released later.
Eusebio made over 600 appearances for Benfica between 1960 and 1975, and the Lisbon giants have sent well wishes to their club icon.
“Benfica wish a speedy recovery to the Black Panther,” a statement on their website reads.
Eusebio was previously admitted at the Hospital da Luz in 2007 when he underwent a heart operation.
