Swansea started their preparations for the new Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Dutch side Gravenzande on Saturday.

Michael Laudrup’s men were comfortable winners in the first game of their tour of the Netherlands, with Ki Sung-Yeung and Pablo Hernandez netting the goals for the Liberty Stadium outfit.

Laudrup named a strong starting eleven for the clash with the Eerste Klasse side, with Ki, Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer and Ashley Williams all included.

Swansea unsurprisingly started the stronger of the two sides but saw a number of early chances go astray.

Ki twice went close in the early going, while captain Ashley Williams and striker Rory Donnelly also wasted opportunities to give Laudrup’s men the lead.

Routledge hit the post on 29 minutes after neat build-up play with Alejandro Pozuelo, but the breakthrough eventually came after 39 minutes, Ki steering in a rebound from close range after Dyer had struck the woodwork.

The Welsh club failed to add to that lead before the interval, but continued to dominate after the break despite making 10 changes at half-time.

New signing Jonjo Shelvey was among those to start the second period, while Hernandez, Ben Davies and recent acquisition Jose Canas also entered the fray.

Shelvey fired over from 20 yards within two minutes of the restart, and the chances continued to flow with Pozuelo, brought on for the second time in place of Donnelly, drilling wide from a Ronald Lamah cross after 77 minutes.

However, Laudrup’s charges made sure of the win five minutes later, Hernandez coolly slotting home after latching on to a through ball from Pozuelo.
