Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain to win 3-1
Best Odds: 11/1
Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain will lock horns with each other in Ligue 1 this coming weekend. The Le Classique between Roberto De Zerbi’s side and Luis Enrique’s team will be held at Stade Velodrome and is scheduled to kick off at 7:45pm UK time on Sunday.
Marseille
Marseille are one of the biggest clubs in France and did extremely well last season. Under manager Roberto De Zerbi, Les Phoceens finished as high as second in the Ligue 1 table in the 2024-25 campaign and will be determined to become the champions of France this time around.
Les Olympiens have not made a great start to the new season, though. Marseille are seventh in the Ligue 1 table at the moment with six points from four matches, three points behind third-placed AS Monaco and six points behind leaders and bitter rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
Marseille will take on Real Madrid away from home at the Santiago Bernabeu in the League Phase of the Champions League on Tuesday evening before facing PSG in Ligue 1 this coming weekend. Marseille hammered Lorient 4-0 at home in the league last weekend, which came after a 1-0 loss to Lyon on the road in Ligue 1.
Team News:
Marseille are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Paris Saint-Germain. Jeffrey de Lange will be in goal for the home team and will have Michael Murillo, Benjamin Pavard, Nayef Aguerd and Facundo Medina in front of him in defence. Angel Gomes and Geoffrey Kondogbia will be the two holding midfielders. Mason Greenwood, Bilal Nadir and Timothy Weah will be the three attacking midfielders. Amine Gouiri will lead the line for Marseille.
Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain are one of the biggest clubs in the world and were hugely successful last season. Not only did PSG win the Ligue 1 title yet again, but under manager Luis Enrique, they also became the champions of Europe for the first time in history.
Luis Enrique’s side hammered Serie A club Inter Milan 5-0 in the final of the UEFA Champions League last season. PSG also reached the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the summer, but the Parisian outfit went down 3-0 to Chelsea.
PSG have made a strong start to the new season, winning all four of their Ligue 1 games so far. PSG will take on Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League match this week before facing Marseille in Ligue 1. PSG beat Lens 2-0 in Ligue 1 last weekend. Just before the two-week international break, PSG hammered Toulouse 6-3 away from home in Ligue 1.
Team News:
Paris Saint-Germain are unlikely to be able to call upon Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the match against Marseille. The Georgia international winger suffered an injury against RC Lens in Ligue 1 last weekend and limped off in the first half. Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue are out of action as well for PSG. The French giants are likely to line up in a 4-3-4 formation, with Lucas Chevalier in goal and Achraf Hakimi, Illia Zabarnyi, Lucas Beraldo and Lucas Hernandez the four defenders in front of him. Warren Zaïre-Emery, Vintinha and Lee Kang-in will be the three midfielders. Ibrahim Mbaye, Goncalo Ramos and Bradley Barcola will be the three forwards.
