Quagliarella´s future uncertain

Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella is remaining tight-lipped on speculation linking him with a January move away from Turin.

The Italy international has found first-team opportunities difficult to come by since the arrival of Antonio Conte as coach in the off-season, and he has made just five appearances in Serie A so far this campaign.

He has been linked with a number of Juve’s rivals in recent weeks, including AC Milan, who are searching for a replacement for Antonio Cassano after his heart surgery.

But Quagliarella said he has no idea if he will be forced out by new arrivals next month.

“I do not know who will arrive, or if anyone will arrive,” he told Juventus Channel.

“Certain topics are up to the directors, not us as players. Our job is to welcome any new signings to the dressing room.”

“If you want to aim for great targets then you have to have a large and high-quality squad.”

Juve are on top of Serie A and have already racked up wins over both Milan clubs this season, as well as coming from two goals down to claim a stunning 3-3 draw against Napoli at the San Paolo.

Quagliarella, however, said nobody at the club is getting carried away just yet.

“We still need to put in a lot of work and it is useless to talk about the title now,” he said. “Expect us in March to understand better where we are.”

“For now, we have the sole duty to work hard and continue on this path. Let us not forget that our rivals are many and fierce.”

“I refer to Milan, who, with (Alexandre) Pato and (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic, can win everything, and then to Napoli, who are a great team and very well placed. We also cannot ignore Lazio or Udinese.”

Quagliarella arrived in Turin on loan from Napoli last year but, after scoring nine goals in just 17 appearances during an injury-interrupted season, his move was made permanent in June.
