Rangers boss Rohl: Bajrami injury could be worse than first feared

Danny Rohl fears Nedim Bajrami’s muscle issue is worse than first believed, as he delivered a quadruple Rangers injury update ahead of their Europa League clash with Ferencvaros.

Bajrami sustained an injury as Rangers defeated Kilmarnock 3-0 on Saturday, though it was felt at first the problem would not be too much of a concern.

However, Rangers boss Rohl stated a follow-up scan was not too promising, and the Albania international will now undergo a further check to ascertain the level of the problem.

“Nedim is not too good for us, which is hard,” said Rohl as Rangers prepared to face the Hungarian outfit, having taken just one point from five games in Europe’s secondary competition this term.

“We thought after the game it wasn’t too serious but it now looks more serious. At the moment, we have some more injuries which isn’t helpful but we still have a good squad together.

“It looks like a muscle injury for Nedim. He didn’t feel so bad but the scan wasn’t positive so now we have to wait and check it one more time. It will then be week by week but hopefully it won’t be long.

“If you count up these injuries, it’s a lot of players who have had problems. We’ve had a lot of games and international players have a lot of travelling. But we’ll manage it and find solutions.”

Rohl also confirmed that Joe Rothwell has not travelled to Hungary, while Lyall Cameron is among the party but is a major doubt.

Dujon Sterling has also made the trip as he aims to make his first appearance since April.

“Joe is not with us, Lyall is with us but there’s a big question mark over him – we have to do an assessment on him,” Rohl added.

“Dujon is back in the squad which is a good signal.”
