Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he is disappointed by his side’s early exit from the Europa League.
Despite winning 4-0 in Dublin on Thursday against Shamrock Rovers, Spurs were eliminated when Russian side Rubin Kazan managed to secure a 1-1 draw in Greece against PAOK with 10 men, giving them second place in Group A.
Redknapp said he was unhappy to have his team’s European campaign cut short.
“I wanted to win last night,” he said. “I was desperate for us to get a result.”
“At half-time it looked like we would do that, 3-0 up, they were 1-0 down, the Russian team out in Greece, and I thought as they’ve got 10 men, maybe that could end up 2-0 or 3-0.”
“It looked like three goals might even do us last night, we got four, but unfortunately it ended up with a draw.”
Redknapp said he was unlikely to make a plunge in the January transfer window, but did not rule out the possibility.
“As I’ve said before, if somebody comes up who we feel could be special and make a bit of difference then you would look at it,” he said.
“But I think it might just cause us headaches because we are not short anywhere.”
“We’ve got good players, if they stay fit in every position. We’ve got Michael Dawson who will hopefully be back in January.”
“Hopefully we will see Tom Huddlestone in the not too distant future as well. Two fantastic players for us, so when everybody is fit we have got a good enough squad to cope, no problems.”
