Reja ready for Inter assault

Lazio coach Edy Reja is optimistic his players can end Inter’s six-game winning streak in Serie A on Sunday.

After a poor start to the season, Intter are the form team in Italy at the moment, having propelled themselves to within six points of league leaders Juventus with a 1-0 victory over defending champions AC Milan last Sunday.

However, Lazio remain one place and one point above Inter in the table after their 2-0 win over Atalanta and Reja is not afraid of the task awaiting his side at the San Siro.

“We will go to Milan to play our game,” he told Lazio Style Radio.

“It could not be otherwise. They are a great team but we can go and play well there.”

Reja was whistled by certain sections of the Stadio Olimpico crowd before the win over Atalanta, after the humiliating 4-0 defeat at Siena the weekend before.

However, the veteran Italian coach did not want to make an issue out of the criticism.

“We came from a 4-0 defeat – what were they supposed to do, applaud me? Anyway, I was still in the dressing room and I did not hear them,” he said.

“But let’s forget about such things and just think positively. The important thing is that the fans are behind the team, just as they have always been.”

Reja took charge of Lazio in 2010 and has since turned a relegation-threatened side into Scudetto contenders.
