Edy Reja must contend with a squad depleted by injury and suspension as he looks to get Lazio back on track against Atalanta on Sunday.
Lazio went down 4-0 away to unheralded Siena in the first league match back from the mid-season break last week.
They will be looking to make a swift return to winning ways when another team in the bottom half of the table, 13th-placed Atalanta, arrive at the Stadio Olimpico.
But the home side will be without the likes of Lorik Cana, Libor Kozak, Cristian Brocchi and Stefano Mauri through injury, while Albano Bizzarri is suspended.
“This is a delicate encounter, especially seeing the difficulties we have putting a team together this weekend,” Reja said.
“Hernanes and Stefan Radu are feeling better, but we’re still not sure if they can play tomorrow.”
“Atalanta are in good shape and are a side to be respected.”
“It is going to be an intense match. Unfortunately, when forced to make so many changes due to injuries, it is difficult to achieve consistency.”
Reja called on the Lazio supporters to get behind the team as they look to overcome the enforced absence of several key players.
“Recently we have had to constantly switch things round in midfield and defence,” he said.
“This is why the fans will become decisive.”
Reja also confirmed Lazio have received an offer for Giuseppe Sculli from the striker’s former club Genoa.
Sculli has scored twice in 11 appearances for Lazio so far this season.
“He is a valuable member of the squad and I have no intention of losing him unless we receive an adequate replacement,” Reja said.
“The transfer strategy is down to President Claudio Lotito and director Ighli Tare. I just give an indication when it comes to characteristics.”
